Opportunity: CarbonSAFE: Storage Complex Feasibility

Description

Projects selected under the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)will reduce the technical challenges to commercial deployment of Carbon Storage by developing Public-Private Partnerships throughout the United States supportive and capable of characterizing, permitting, and preparing a geologic storage site 50-100 MMT CO2 for industrially sourced CO2. Projects will perform a high level of risk assessment and Sub-Basinal evaluation of the potential region. This regional characterization will provide enough detail to prove the suitability of the site to store 50-100 MMT of CO2, examples of high level evaluations include acquiring/purchasing 2D Seismic acquisition, stratigraphic well logs, and updated geologic models. Finally, the project will provide a description of the public/private partnership's business plan that would enable integrated capture and storage projects to be economically feasible. Business plans should focus on aspects within the direct control of the recipient.
