Opportunity: Preventative Maintenance Agreement for JEOL Electo

The U.S. EPA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), with JEOL USA, Inc. to provide preventative maintenance agreement for a number of JEOL Microscopes. Specific instruments include: JEOL JSM-6490LV Scanning Electron Microscope, the JEOL JSM-7600F Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope, and the JEOL-JEM 2100 (HT) Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope. EPA has identified JEOL USA, Inc. as the only contractor able to meet the requirements of this procurement. The EPA¿s Office of Research and Development at AWBERC, 26 West Martin Luther King Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45268 utilizes these JEOL USA instruments on a daily basis. JEOL is the sole manufacturer and distributor of these instrumentation as well as the parts and products they support. JEOL engineers are highly trained for the specific instruments in the facility. JEOL replacement parts and certified technicians are required to ensure accuracy of the instruments. Only JEOL USA has access to the software, engineering, and electronics necessary to provide these maintenance services. These instruments are all electron microscopes purchased from JEOL USA, Inc. This procurement will be accomplished under FAR Part 12 Commercial Procedures. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETATIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Documentation must be submitted within 15 calendar days of the date of publication of this notice.
