Opportunity: Multi-Physics simulation software package

Description 

The United States Geological Survey intends to make a multi-year non-competitive award to Comsol, Inc., located in Burlington, MA for multi-physics and supporting modules. The government requires a flexible and powerful multi-physics simulation software package and COMSOL is the only package that can simulate the requisite range of physical processes (including heat transfer, fluid flow, solid deformation, and chemical reactions) with the flexibility to adjust parameters for the alien settings on other planetary bodies. The government issued a sources sought notice 140G0318Q0020 which resulted in no known qualified businesses interested and capable of providing the services for this software in which competition can be obtained. The proposed action will be awarded on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) ¿ only one source reasonably available. The proposed action will be awarded in accordance with FAR 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items. IAW 5.207(c)(16)(i), All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency. This notice and any resulting in a solicitation or purchase order conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-96, dated 06 Nov 2017.
