Opportunity: Continue maintenance of Pitney Bowes Mail Inserter

Description 

The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Pitney Bowes, Inc. for the maintenance of SSA’s Pitney Bowes Flowmaster Productivity Series devices and Mailstream Productivity Series inserters. SSA uses the mail inserters and the track and trace system to track notices from the time of printing to delivery. Only Pitney Bowes has legal access to the mail inserter parts, documentation, drawings, and source code necessary to provide maintenance. The authority for this acquisition is set forth in 41 U.S.C. § 3304(a)(1), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government anticipates award of a firm-fixed-price contract with a one-year base period and 5 one-year option periods. Written responses to this notice shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. This is not a request for quotation, and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
