Description 

The purpose of this Request for Information is to seek information from coal-fueled power plant owners, operators, equipment manufacturers, architect-engineers, and other stakeholders about Research and Development activities that could lead to wide-scale retrofits of existing coal-fueled electricity generating units with technologies that improve the overall performance, reliability, and flexibility of the nation’s existing fleet of coal-fueled electricity generating units. Specifically, the Department of Energy Fossil Energy program is interested in gathering information relevant to three technical areas. These areas include: (1) – Technologies for Efficiency Improvements at Full- and/or Part-Load Operations; (2) – Technologies for Improvements to electricity generating units Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM); and (3) – Technologies for Improved Operational Flexibility. The intent of gathering information in these three technical areas is to inform the development of targeted Research & Development to develop technologies that can be rapidly deployed across the existing fleet of coal-fueled electricity generating units. This is solely a Request for Information and is not a Funding Opportunity Announcement. U.S. Department of Energy is not accepting applications to this Request for Information.
