Opportunity: Request for Information DE-FOA-0001921

Description

The purpose of this Request for Information is to seek information from stakeholders about Research and Development activities that could lead to performance improvements in steam based power cycles applicable to coal fueled boilers. Specifically, the Department of Energy Fossil Energy program is interested in gathering information relevant to three (3) technical areas. These areas include: (1) - Advanced Manufacturing for Improved Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of Steam Turbines; (2) - Steam Turbine Development for Advanced Ultra Supercritical Conditions; and (3) - Steam Cycle Augmentation in Coal Fueled Boilers for Load Following and Energy Storage. The intent of gathering information in these three (3) technical areas would be to identify Research and Development that would lead to more efficient steam turbines, resulting in a lower cost-of-electricity with reduced emissions per megawatt-hour in coal fueled boilers and provide options for existing or future coal boilers that can better follow load and provide options to store energy. The purpose of Amendment 000002 to this Request for Information is to extend the closing date until July 15, 2018.
