Opportunity: DE-FOA-0001734

Description

Energy production from enhanced oil recovery (EOR) will continue in the foreseeable future from both conventional and unconventional reservoirs. An environmentally sustainable approach will be required to ensure the availability of the additional large volumes of CO2 that need to be injected into both oil and gas reservoirs and saline formations to ensure energy security. Therefore, a carbon management approach capable of lowering industrial emissions in a manner that is both economical and publicly acceptable in the long-term is desirable. Associated carbon storage (onshore or offshore) at commercial scale as part of EOR operation or in a saline reservoir shows promise to help meet these goals.
