Opportunity: Recovery Act: Solar Market Transformation

Description

This funding opportunity announcement aims to address current market barriers to the adoption of solar technologies and to establish a nationally coordinated effort to spread solar installation training to the local level. This will be achieved through two Topic Areas: (1) Enable Solar America Cities to scale-up innovative programs and concepts so they can be tested in a broader marketplace; eligibility for this Topic Area is restricted to the existing 25 Solar America Cities. (2) Address the workforce development needs of the solar industry, both for grid-tied PV systems in residential, commercial, and utility markets, and for Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) systems, by increasing the quality and availability of instruction; this topic is open to all domestic entities and institutions. Within Topic 2, there are two categories: (a) provide regional resources and training for local PV or SHC installation, with maximum award of $2-3.5MM per grantee; and (b) administer a national consortium for solar installer instructor training, with maximum award of $2.5-6MM for the sole grantee. No cost sharing is required for Topic 2.
