Opportunity: Digital Broadband Seismometer

Description

Reclamation's Paradox Valley Unit (PVU) is a critical component of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Program, which is a multi-works program to control the salinity of water delivered to users in the United States and Mexico. PVU is located in western Colorado, approximately 90 km southwest of Grand Junction. As part of PVU, Reclamation operates the Paradox Valley Seismic Network (PVSN) to monitor earthquakes induced by PVU injection operations. PVSN is a dense local seismic monitoring network consisting of 20 digital broadband seismic stations. Each seismic station includes a digital broadband 3-component seismometer with integrated digitizer, and a GPS timing antenna that provides precise timing to the digitizer. Reclamation has a requirement to purchase quantity 20 spare digital broadband seismometers with integrated digitizers, I/O interfaces, and GPS antennas. The spare components must be fully compatible with the existing seismic stations, including power consumption, electrical interface, and dimensioning necessary to fit within the existing seismometer vaults and equipment enclosures. Compatibility requirements are listed in Section 2.01.D. Installation and commissioning will be performed by Reclamation. Training will not be required, however, the vendor must provide standard documentation including installation and operation manuals, and calibration data. The spare broadband seismometers must be delivered to Reclamation offices within 180 days of contract award.
