Gas and Oil Isotopic Analysis. This is a Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source ID/IQ Contract to Duke University, Durham, NC for chemical analyses of produced water primarily from oil wells throughout California The requirement is for sample analyses of produced oil well fluids to measure the concentrations and isotopic ratios of strontium-87/struontium-86, lithium-7/lithium-6, boron-11/boron-10, and concentrations of the major/trace elements: chloride, bromide, nitrate, sulfate, sodium, lithium, beryllium, boron, magnesium, calcium, manganese, cobalt, copper, rubidium, strontium, molybdenum, silver, cadmium, tin, barium, tellurium lead, thallium, uranium, ANC as HCO3, and ammonia. Duke University Laboratory, to the knowledge of the USGS, is the only laboratory that has the refined equipment and analytical capability to perform the required analyses of produced water from oil well samples for each element. They also have equipment sophisticated enough to analyze each isotope to the exact ratio we require. No other lab we contacted could provide 100% of the end product we are seeking. All responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. Responses are due no later than 01/08/2018 1300 EST.
