Opportunity: Power wash and Apply Masonry Sealant to Research l

Description

The U. S. Geological Survey, Conte Anadromous Fish Laboratory Center has a requirement to pressure wash all exterior walls on Research Lab Building (RLB) and to apply a spray on concrete sealant to prevent water infiltration. The RLB is one of three original building at the Conte Center. The exterior walls are constructed of Concrete Masonry Units (CMU) with poured concrete footings and foundations. Sealant was applied to all the exterior walls in 2010 but there is a need to seal the entire exposed area again, as water infiltration is occurring in numerous areas that receive a higher volume of water due to exposure to driving rain, proximity to roof drain overflows and other factors. There are approximately 12,000 square feet of concrete surfaces to be sealed. There are at least four different types of surfaces present that shall be included in this bid: Type A and Type D Fractured Face CMUs, Type A Ground Face CMUs and some areas of poured concrete. There are also adjacent areas covered with concrete-fiber siding that are not to be sealed as well as doors, windows and flashing. Some areas are above flat PVC roofs. The height of the walls varies from 18 feet to 30 feet. Project is located in Turner Falls, MA01376-0796. The project shall be completed within 60 days after notice to proceed is issued. There are no option periods. The magnitude of construction is under $20,000 Request for Quote (RFQ) 140G0118Q0148 will be issued on or about 03/12/2018 with written quotes due on or about 03/30/2018.
