Description

Amendment #1 provides Site Tour information: Scheduled for August 29, 2017 at 10AM; meet at DY Junction; prepare to drive over unimproved roads. AWARD LIMITED TO CURRENT BLM HAZARDOUS FUELS REDUCTION IDIQ CONTRACT HOLDERS. The Malta Field Office of the North Central Montana District, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is acquiring fuels management services to treat vegetation to reduce the risk of high severity wildfires and improve Bighorn Sheep habitat. Treatments will open and restore ponderosa pine stands, and reduce conifer encroachment into meadows, by reducing stem densities. Vegetation in the project area consists primarily of ponderosa pine with common juniper encroachment. The mechanical removal of fuels in the project area will be done by hand with chainsaws. *** The entire treatment unit was burned over by a wildfire in July. Fire severity ranges from low to high throughout the entire project area. Additional hazards may be present as a result of the wildfire event.
