Opportunity: Rotor Inspection- Glen Canyon Dam

Description

Glen Canyon has a need to have Nondestructive Examination (NDE) services to inspect the welds along the spider arms of the Unit 1 Rotor. This inspection will assist the BOR in comprising a weld repair plan and to assure there are no other issues or concerns beyond the fatigue welded areas. The Contractor shall perform two separate examinations on the spider arms of the Unit 1 Rotor. The method of NDE to be used for the first test shall be Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), to assure there is no additional fatigue and/or stress in the beam structure itself. The second test is to include an efficient method of NDE for weld repairs. The contractor shall provide a complete report on both inspections to the BOR. For weld acceptance criteria, code requirements will need to fall within AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel. Contractors shall be certified in nondestructive examinations and phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) in accordance with the recommended practices of SNT-TC-1A set forth by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Level III certification is required for the onsite supervising technician.
