Under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), Fish & Wildlife Services, Region 7 Contracting and General Services intends to issue a sole source, firm-fixed price order to: COMPANY: Life Technologies, DUNS: 182158873 FOR : $51311.16 ON: 07/25/2019 NAICS: 811219 Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance AUTHORITY: 8.405-6(a)(2) Limited Sources Justification and Approval 13.106(b) Soliciting from a single source Determinations not to compete this proposed procurement were made because: The genetics laboratory needs to purchase a service agreement for the 3730 DNA Analyzer (SN 19133-009), QuantStudio 12K Flex (SN 285880162), its associated Accufil (SN 230820056), and the QuantStudio 12K Flex (SN 285881183) used in the laboratory. These instruments are only sold and serviced by Life Technologies. The service agreement includes onsite repair service, inspection and maintenance with a 2 business day service response time. A yearly inspection and maintenance visit by a service engineer is also included. This service capability is essential for keeping these technical and expensive machines in good working order to allow the Conservation Genetics Lab to continue efficient operations. Life Technologies has proprietary rights to the 3730 DNA Analyzer, QuantStudio 12K Flex, and Accufil and is therefore the only source that is qualified to provide technical support of the instrument. Life Technologies does not distribute any parts or service to 3rd parties making it impossible for any other source to perform repairs and maintenance for continued support of this system. Life Technologies sales representatives informed the genetics lab that Life Technologies will not distribute any parts or service to 3rd parties.
