Searching for Messages in the Message Center

Because you might have dozens or even hundreds of messages listed in your Message Center inbox, you have the ability to search for specific messages based on the column headings that display in the Message Center. These include:

Additionally, you can conduct two types of searches: basic, which enables you to search for messages based on one criterion, and advanced, which enables you to search for messages based on multiple criteria. Both of these methods are described in greater detail below.

Conducting a Basic Search

To conduct a basic search:

  1. In the Message Center, in the [Search Criterion] field, select the criterion you want to use as the basis for your search. You can select one of the following criteria: Document, From, Public, Status, Subject, or To.

Tip

When you access the Message Center, the basic search options should display on the page. However, if the advanced search options display and you want to conduct a basic search, click Search Criteria. The basic search options display.
  1. In the [Search Box] field, type the term(s) you want to search for that correlate to your selection in the [Search Criterion] field.

Example

If you selected From in the [Search Criterion] field, type the name of the person/agency who sent the message(s) you want to search for in the [Search Box] field.
  1. Click Search. The messages that match your search criteria display.

Note

While the inbox is specifically mentioned above, this method works for the other parts of the Message Center as well: drafts, outbox, sent messages, and deleted messages.

Conducting an Advanced Search

To conduct an advanced search:

  1. In the Message Center, click Advanced Options. The advanced search options display.

Note

Not all of these fields display on every folder in the Message Center.
  1. In the Subject field, type the subject of the message(s) for which you want to search.
  2. In the From field, type the name of the person/agency that sent the message(s) for which you want to search.
  3. In the To field, type the name of the person/agency that received the message(s) for which you want to search.
  4. In the Document field, type the name of the document referenced in the message(s) for which you want to search.
  5. In the Status field, select the status (Draft, Queued, Sent, or Received) of the message(s) for which you want to search.
  6. In the Public field, select Yes if the message(s) you want to search for are public messages, select No if the message(s) you want to search for are private messages sent to your company, or select Both if you want to include both public and private messages in your search results.
  1. Click Search. The messages that match your search criteria display.
